In theory any type of personalities can get along. So any two zodiac sign charts can have compatibility and a relationship. In reality though, those two people with conflicting chart energies will have a much tougher time making a relationship last - and will have much more friction along the way - than people who have harmonizing and balancing, compatible energies.

The typical simple reading that you will get is that Sun signs that are 120 degrees apart are balancing and they get along. So Aries with Leo and Sagittarius go together because they are all fire signs. And these same elements naturally get along. The same would go for the earth elements, air and water elements as “compatible” zodiac signs.

But this is false in my view. Synastry between two people is more than just the aspects in a chart. Two very fiery and aggressive people may make for exciting romance and interesting aggression and passion between one another for a month or two. But long-term, this is a combustible arrangement and simply too much heat for both to take! The girl may then lose the guy, and then say she has a very hard time to ” get back my boyfriend “. Their personalities will likely clash unless other elements of their chart can balance much better.

So you must consider the traditional astrology sign relationships in my view. Say Ashley’s birth chart Moon is in Aries, and Sun is in Capricorn. And say that her potential boyfriend Paul’s Sun is in Leo, and his Moon is in Scorpio.

This is what true potential compatibility is about. It is about the receptions of the planets between one another. Ashley’s Moon is in one of Paul’s Sun’s favorite signs. She really admires and can be infatuated with Paul. The sparks can really be there. And the same from Paul’s perspective. He has a Sun and Moon which is “built-in” to have a good potential relationship with Ashley.

You have to look at the planets signs. This is part of traditional astrology. The birth chart will show the temperament of a person. If the two people are naturally inclined to be private, then this might be good. If one is very outgoing and loud and party-like, this may bring the private, secluded person out from their shell for a while. This might be fun for dating. But it’s hard to fight against someone’s inner nature. So over time, this type of relationship setup may not work as well.

Looking at a review of each person’s full birth chart can give a robust idea of their nature, their likes and dislikes. This then can give a great tool to see how the two people will interact. Simply looking at one person’s aspects with another is more shallow. Seeing the same ascendant with two people is nice and does provide a tiny bit of information. If you look hard enough, you can always find contacts and close degrees or angles between various planets in two people’s charts. So knowing about zodiac sign temperament, personality, and a person’s full nature can provide much more fertile understanding to give them the best opportunity to see which type of people will really be right for them in the long run. Before you know it, you might even be searching for just the right wedding flowers! This will allow the sparks and excitement of an initial relationship and dates, as well as give great opportunity for growth and happiness for many years to come.

Colin Montgomerie was chosen as the 2010 euro ryder cup captain despite Sandy Lyle really pushing for the captain’s spot. Monty, as he’s well known by, actually wasn’t terribly excited about being the captain at first. He does have a stellar record in Ryder Cup competition, 3rd in all-time earned points for the team.

Besides Monty, his nickname is also ‘Grumpy.’ If a fan isn’t behaving as Monty surmises he or she should, he lets them know loudly and rudely. He often storms off the green before other group members are finished if he’s mad.  He complains more than his peers about setups of the tour courses, other golfers’ etiquette, and whatever else he feels like.  Clearly, tact and diplomacy are not his strong points.

Taking a look at his astrology temperament and a quick chart review of the zodiac signs certainly enforces that concept. He’s a nearly pure phlegmatic temperament. In fact his big 3 of Sun, Moon and Ascendant are all in Cancer. What’s more, it’s clearly a moon-dominated chart all the way around. Moon in 1st, Moon 6 degrees from ascendant.

This phlegmatic type is often preoccupied in their own internal process and relatively out of touch with their surroundings. Physiognomy is typified by a “loose, shambling gait” and an indifferent body type. Monty has this exact slightly plump, doughy appearance.

The moon in the new to first quarter range contributes to his impulsiveness. What makes him boil over the edge more often than most? Check out Mercury in the 12th in a near exact square to the cluster of Mars and Pluto which are smothering the IC. What’s more, Mars is conjunct the fixed star Zosma. Robson states that this star, especially conjunct a malefici, causes benefit by disgrace, selfishness, egotism, meanness, and melancholy. Also an alert but unhappy mind with inclination to melancholic moods. Pluto is conjunct Zosma too, but not relevant as a personal planet. Being on an angle still emphasizes its intensity and the zodiac signs nonetheless. Monty is not exactly super-friendly to “friends” and acquaintances at first approach, now is he (Mars ruling the 11th). The three personal planets in the 12th don’t help matter in the public arena for Monty either. A melancholic dude who is an internal operator, living in a very public life, combined with a venomous tongue ready to lash out, makes for a grumpy dude in his profession.

Monty is currently in a Saturn/Sun firdaria phase. The Ryder Cup timeframe will have a transiting Mars-Venus conjunction conjunct his natal Neptune. Neptune usually makes the transits rather than receiving for this sort of work, so it remains to be seen how this may affect his captaincy. Needless to say, it may all be a big blur to him and he may wish he never took on the challenge. I could certainly do a lot more predictive work with some progressions and solar arcs and make up a nice time map a la Bernadette Brady for the 2010 Ryder Cup, but I made this post to simply give a little glimpse into the astrology signs personality and zodiac signs personality.

I’m sure Monty has his nice moments - I don’t mean to paint him as a constant grouch. He’s a fantastic golfer who’s been on top of the European tour for years in the 90s.  He’s never managed to win a major and it’s one victory he’d love to achieve to cap his career. That said, he’s deservedly earned his reputation over the years. And you can see the energies in his zodiac birth chart that make it so.

The simple truth is that one planet’s sign is not going to describe you in full. What it does is describe a specific part of you. That part which the planet symbolizes has the energy of the sign that planet is in.  A bit of a mouthful, but read that sentence again and understand it. So for example, let’s look at if you are a Pisces Moon sign - that means you have a Moon in Pisces on your birth chart.

Pisces is a water sign, one of three astrological signs that are watery in nature. The three water signs do have differences of course. Scorpio and Cancer are the other two. Cancer is a cardinal water, Scorpio is a fixed water. And the zodiac sign of Pisces is a changeable water sign.

Pisces energy is very receptive and potentially vulnerable to the ebbs and flows of change. For this reason, there can be a potential for a “woe is me” kind of attitude with this energy. If you have the Moon in your birth chart that is in the zodiac sign of Pisces, then you may indeed be emotionally sensitive to those around you. This could be deemed as being psychic or more intuitive. Water is a universal receptacle for energies and picks up the vibrations going into it. So does the energy of Pisces as well. The energy of Pisces will often exceed the traditional limits, because it wants nothing to do with limits or boundaries.

A Pisces sign could in fact be considered a psychic sign in astrology. And as water signs, so also could Scorpio and Cancer. But you can see the importance of incorporating a full overview of all planets in your chart and not just focusing on one. You have the Moon, Sun, Mercury. You also have the planets Venus, Mars, Jupiter and Saturn. These all contribute as important planets in your chart. They each have their own sign too.

Remember that this Moon in Pisces is not in isolation and affecting you with its energy all by itself. Maybe it’s being affected directly by a Saturn in Libra that is quite happy. This may give more focus to the emotional perspective. The specific house that this Moon is in will play an important role in the area of your life that this energy is expressing itself too. These are all important factors to consider.

Most importantly to remember is this. Astrology in the best sense does not allow you to give away your responsibility. “Because my Venus is in Pisces sign, that really explains my problem doing this with that person.” This is not the way to improve yourself at all.

It is correct that your Sun in Libra or your Mercury in Taurus does alter the way you act relating to self-expression, and the zodiac sign does effect your personality and the method in which you prefer to communicate and think. Knowing this info will help you understand astrological compatibility. And from the diverse zodiac signs, you will have a good start in interpretation.

Knowing the tendencies of your chart energy and the planet sign energy relating to a task or person can allow you to stop and say something like, “Hey, this is the way I usually act, and it’s not been the best. I can change this with a different approach and attitude”. This is a benefit to learning about astrology signs and energy of the zodiac. You’re not drastically changing your whole self. Rather, you are adjusting and tweaking based on self-knowledge. That will most likely lead to good things for you in the future.
